Our Philosophy

Greetings! My name is Jean Baker and I am the owner and primary photographer of
Golden Blithe Photography - Thank you for visiting!

Please take the time to read a bit about myself and my talented team of photographers and view our work throughout this site to discover for yourself if we are the right fit for your photography needs.
We would be thrilled to become your photographers!

Jean Baker began this business 8 years ago when she realized she could not afford a photographer and that didn't feel right to her! She felt there should be a photographer who took
quality pictures without charging exorbitant prices

As a business owner, her motivation is not that of becoming rich in money, but rather rich in experiences and positive relationships with clients.

“Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!” -Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Golden Blithe Photography exists to provide quality, creative photography at affordable rates.
Our mission is to create beautiful memories for your family to treasure and share at a rate which is within reach of everyone. If finances are a concern, please reach out as I will happily work with you on a sliding scale to make photography possible for everyone.

How a local photographer feels about Golden Blithe Photography:

John Ruskin once wrote: "It is unwise to pay too much. But it is worse to pay too little..... There is hardly anything in this world that someone can't make a little worse and sell a little cheaper - and people who consider price alone are this man's lawful prey." There will come a day when you will value your time more than you do now and you will understand why "professional photographers" charge so much. They do so to put value to their time and to honor the lifetime they have spent in learning and mastering the craft. But also to make a living at that which they do all day long. The 5-6 hours that is spent photographing a wedding needs to cover not only the cost of the camera, batteries and gas but also home, car payment and groceries as well. I suspect that right now you have the luxury of not having to make a living with your photography. Enjoy that but don't disrespect those have invested their lives learning the science and the art of photography and are selling a product that reflects a high standard of creativity, imagination and consistency. Count the hours that you work for your $30 package and subtract the overhead it takes to keep your business viable then see if your hour wage you pay yourself is better than a high schooler's entry level job. I honestly believe that you are giving your product and time away for nothing or even worse you are paying people to come to you.

 Jean Baker to ‪Kent‬

Hi Kent, I found your email addressed to me to be rather rude. I sure would hate to hear how you feel about medical doctors donating time and energy in 3rd world countries. I feel sorry for you that you are so insecure in your skills and worth that you would spend your time framing this email. I also pity your limited life prospective to lash out at a stranger clearly showing no understanding or respect for either the human condition (aka interpersonal communication skills with strangers) or any understanding of the free market enterprise our country operates under; think Ross selling designer shoes compared to designer shoes selling directly off the runway...perhaps you need a wider base of education which includes marketing and economics not just creativity. The world has need of all types, styles and motivations of persons - photographers, doctors and any given profession. Your pictures are beautiful Kent, and you are very good at your work. I would suspect we are marketing to completely different demographics of clients. My motivations are different than your motivations clearly. I see you enjoy quotes, here is one that describes my outlook which I share on my website philosophy page: "Mankind was your business. The common welfare is my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business." -from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
May you be blessed in your journey of continual growth and enlightenment,
Signed, Jean Baker - the aggravating photographer who lives to serve her community and believes every high school senior deserves portraits taken, every sick person a doctor and shoes should be sold at a variety of prices.
